Leaving - Poetry of Moving On, Slowly.

Quick poetry today at Chilli Studios, with similarities and differences to experience. Write from experience they say. Then change it. Embellishments and and redefinition frame a fiction.

LEAVING

Leaving love's cruelty was not
an end. I carried bitter hope
memories, dreamed we would return.

Goodbyes were agreed, bound
alongside reconciliatory terms.
I exceeded conditions.

You witnessed white star shining
in capable reinvigoration and
recognised my healing.

Terms broken, no brokered
hellos. Only silences, taped
lips. I held you still.

Leaving takes time. A train
ticket is for the future.
Benched at Slough Station.

To travel. New cities waft
fragrant promises. You remain
behind, an unfocused moment.
